Cheddar Applesauce Biscuits

"I just came in from outside.  I could use
some nice homemade dog treats to warm me up!"

How about some Cheddar Applesauce Biscuits?

"I think that will do."

This is what we need.

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.
"YUM!"

Add water a little at a time until dough forms.
"I like dough."

Roll out dough with plastic wrap on top.

"Are they almost done?"

Cut into shapes and place on a lined cookie sheet.

Bake 30 minutes.

"Are they done yet?"

"Please be done, please be done."

They are done now, but they need to cool.
"Are you kidding me!?"

"They're right there, can't I just have one?"

"I hate waiting."

Here you go.  Hope they were worth the wait.
"MMMMMM!"

"More, please."

Here is the recipe:
2 cups wheat flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 T. olive oil
water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.  Add water a tablespoon at a time until
dough forms.  Roll out on a floured surface with plastic wrap on top of dough.  Cut out biscuits and place on
a lined cookie sheet.  Reroll scraps and continue cutting out biscuits.  Bake for 30 minutes until nicely browned and firm.  Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

Peanut Butter & Applesauce Biscuits

"I just had a dream about peanut butter!"

"Let me see if I can still taste the peanut
butter that used to be in this bone."

Jenny!  I'm going to make some peanut
butter and applesauce biscuits!

"My dreams have come true!"

You just mix flour, peanut butter, applesauce,
and oats together in a bowl.
"I can smell the sweet peanut butter aroma!"

"Can you put some on my tongue?"

"This mixing process is taking a long time.
I guess I should try to relax."

Place dough on a well floured surface.

Roll dough out to about 1/4 inch thick.

Cut shapes out of dough and place
on a lined cookie sheet.

"Please drop one."

Place in oven for 25 minutes.
"I don't know how long that is, but
I will sit here until I hear that timer ding."

Let cool before serving.

"They don't have to cool...I love warm
peanut butter!!!"

"So close, yet so far away."

Enjoy!

I'll let you have two since you waited so long.

"I wonder what dreams will come true tomorrow?!"

Here is the full recipe:
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups oats
1 cup peanut butter (natural)
1 cup unsweetened applesauce

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix all ingredients stirring until they are well mixed and ready for kneading.
Knead the dough on a well floured surface.  If the mixture is too dry and crumbly add a teaspoon of olive oil
to the mix.  Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness then cut into shapes and place on a lined cookie
sheet.  Bake for 25 minutes.  Let cool before serving and store in an airtight container.

Fresh Breath Treats

"I'm sad. I was told that my breath is stinky."

It's okay.  I'm going to make you some
fresh breath treats.

"I don't know if that will work!"

Well, let's find out.
Here are the ingredients we will need.

"I suppose it's worth a shot."

Put all dry ingredients in a bowl.

Stir.

Add chicken broth to the dry ingredients.

"It smells like it might help my breath."

Form mixture into a dough ball.

Roll out dough on a floured surface.

"I hope these work. I don't want stinky breath."

Cut dough into shapes. I used a juice glass.

Then I cut the circles in half.
"You know, you could leave them whole."

Place on a lined cookie sheet.
I like to use parchment paper.

"She put those treats in the oven."
"Looks like I'll be waiting awhile."

"If I'm reading the timer correctly...
it's almost time for treats!"

"She said they have to cool in the
turned off oven....shame."

"She finally took them out of the oven!"

"Yum. Those are tasty. I think my breath
feels fresher already!"

"Haaaaah.  How does that smell?"

I say we fixed your problem.

"Maybe I should have a few more,
just to be sure!"

Here is the full recipe:
1 cup wheat flour
1/4 cup ground flaxseed
1/4 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup parsley, minced
1/2 cup chicken broth

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.  Stir in chicken broth and shape into a ball.  Place dough ball on
a floured surface.  Roll out dough and cut into shapes.  Place shapes onto a lined cookie sheet.
Place in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.  Turn off oven and allow treats to cool in the oven until crispy.
